Amethyst Jewelry

This gemstone is basically purple quartz and comes in all shades of purple. Some folks believe amethyst is also thought to have philosophical, spiritual, and material powers. It was a prized stone of Ancient Egypt royalty, favored by Russia's Catherine the Great of Russia, and it even has an honored place in the crown jewels of England. Why not? It's my favorite because it's my birthstone. :)

Chrysocolla Jewelry

Garnet Jewelry

Garnet occurs in every color except for blue and most varieties are named for their color. Currently, I have the deep purple-red color of Garnet. As the official birthstone of January, some folks think that garnet symbolizes faith, devotion, and truth. Howlite Jewelry

Howlite is a beautiful silicate white to gray stone that has veins of dark brown, dark gray or black. It is named after mineralogist Henry How, who discovered it in Nova Scotia during the 19th century. Howlite is often dyed to look like Turquoise and Lapis Lazuli. They say Howlite is a calming stone that can relieve stress, and help with memory, observation, patience, and insomnia.

Jasper Jewelry

Jasper is found in nearly any color of the rainbow. It often contains organic material which gives it unique patterns, bands, and colors. Many say that these patterns resemble landscapes with mountains and valleys. Lapis Lazuli Jewelry

Technically, lapis is considered a rock, not a mineral. The reason is because it is a combination of various minerals and to be considered a mineral it would have only one component. The more valuable lapis is a strong blue, sometimes with a hint of violet. The more white patches (calcite) there are, the less valuable it becomes. Small veins of pyrite (a gold color) are often prized.

Moonstone Jewelry

The moonstone gem is a type of feldspar (an important group of rock-forming minerals which make up perhaps as much as 60% of the Earth's crust). It is usually whitish-blue, but can be colorless, yellow, orange, gray, or even reddish. On the other hand, Opalite is a glass manmade stone that resembles an opal.

Snowflake Obsidian Jewelry

Obsidian is a natural glass that forms from volcanic activity and the white 'snowflake' crystal patterns are due to the mineral Cristobalite. Turquoise Jewelry

The name turquoise is apparently related to the fact that is was brought to Europe from the Eastern Mediterranean by Levantine traders, more commonly known as Turks. Its been used as a valuable ornament for ages and was used by the Egyptians thousands of years ago. The color is, of course, turquoise, but its range of color varies from white to green and greenish blue to sky blue shades. Turquoise is a soft stone and is usually treated to enhance the color and hardness. Natural untreated turquoise is rare; about 3% of the world's turquoise is mined and sold without having anything added to it. All of the turquoise I use is treated and dyed.
