Wrestling Hygiene

Wrestling is a contact sport and sometimes that closeness can cause problems. To stay healthy, follow these tips:
- Report ANY rash or skin infection/lesions to the head coach. Ringworm is very easy to transmit.
- Shower with an antibacterial soap after each practice or competition.
- When showering at gyms / wrestling facilities, it is recommended to wear shower shoes or flip-flops
- Keep your hair short and free of greasy products during wrestling season.
- Keep fingernails short, clean, and trimmed.
- Keep wrestling clothes clean - only wear clean clothing and gear to practice and competition. Shoes,
kneepads and headgear should be washed weekly.
- Only wear wrestling shoes in the gym. If worn outside, debris tracked onto the mat will infect and injure wrestlers and possibly rip the mats.
- Air out your gym bag and spray with a disinfectant (i.e., Lysol) daily.
- Don't share wrestling gear, clothing, food and drinks with others.
- While not mandatory, please wear deodorant. If not for yourself, for the environment around you.
If there are showers available, I'm sure wrestlers are welcome to them.
